Sidney Woolf-Hoyle is a freelance historian, journalist and booktrader. His specialism is the aristocratic ‘high’ politics of twentieth-century Britain, and his masters dissertation focused on ‘Die-Hard’ peers during the 1910s and ‘20s. His continuing interests include the art of James Tissot and Tamara de Lempicka, the ‘Whig’ and ‘Tory’ traditions in English literature (think Vladimir Nabokov vs. Anthony Powell), and the dominance of the Conservative and Unionist Party in the last quarter of the twentieth century. Sidney studied Modern History at St Andrews (2024) and Oxford (2025), and alongside his work with the Society for Court Studies he is an active supporter of the Georgian Group and Strawberry Hill House.
